SIZE
"Rugs Size Guide"
1. Measure the room
- Measure the length and width of your room (in feet or meters).
Example: Room = 12 ft × 10 ft
2. Decide where the rug will go
- Under the sofa, under the bed, or in the center of the room?
- Common guidelines:
- Under a sofa: Rug should extend at least 6–12 inches beyond the sofa.
- Under a dining table: Make the rug big enough so chairs can move without leaving the rug.
- Under a bed: Rug should extend 2–3 ft beyond the sides and foot of the bed.
3. Calculate rug size
- Formula:
Rug Length = Room Length − Margin
Rug Width = Room Width − Margin - Margin: How much floor you want to show around the rug (usually 1–2 ft).
Example:
Room = 12 ft × 10 ft
Margin = 2 ft on each side → Total margin: 4 ft in each dimension
- Rug Length = 12 − 4 = 8 ft
- Rug Width = 10 − 4 = 6 ft
- Final rug size = 8 ft × 6 ft
4. Check rug shape
- Rectangular, square, or round: Choose based on your furniture and room layout.
- Make sure it’s centered and proportionate to the room.
